The Offspring
The Offspring is an American punk rock band originating from Garden Grove, California, formed in 1984. The band was initially established by Dexter Holland (lead vocals, guitar) and Greg K. (bass, backing vocals), who were later joined by Noodles (guitar, backing vocals) and Pete Parada (drums).
The band gained significant recognition in the 1990s with their third album "Smash" (1994) which became a massive success, setting the record for most albums sold by an independent label, with over 11 million copies worldwide. The album produced the hit singles "Come Out and Play," "Self Esteem," and "Gotta Get Away," catapulting the band into mainstream popularity.
Their following albums, "Ixnay on the Hombre", "Americana", "Conspiracy of One", and "Splinter", further solidified their place in the punk rock scene with continued commercial success. Notable songs from these albums include "Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)", "Why Don't You Get a Job?" and "The Kids Aren't Alright."
The Offspring's style is characterized by a blend of punk, pop, and rock, with humorous and often politically charged lyrics. As of today, they continue to tour and record, maintaining their position as one of the best-selling punk rock bands of all time.
