Static-X
Static-X is an American industrial metal band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 1994, the band is best known for their fusion of industrial metal and nu metal genres. The group was founded by Wayne Static and original drummer Ken Jay.
Static-X gained mainstream attention after the release of their debut album, "Wisconsin Death Trip," in 1999, which combined elements of metal, industrial, and electronic music. The album went platinum in 2001, largely due to the success of the single "Push It."
However, the band faced a series of line-up changes throughout the 2000s. Despite this, they managed to release five more successful albums, including "Machine" in 2001 and "Start a War" in 2005.
In 2013, Wayne Static announced that Static-X was disbanding, citing his solo interests. Tragically, he passed away in 2014 from a combination of prescription drugs and alcohol.
In 2018, the remaining members of Static-X announced a reunion in honor of the 20th anniversary of "Wisconsin Death Trip." They also released a new album, "Project Regeneration Vol. 1," in 2020, featuring the last recordings of Wayne Static.
Static-X's music continues to be influential in the industrial metal and nu metal scenes. Their aggressive, high-energy style and unique blend of genres have left a lasting legacy in the world of heavy music.
