Spiritbox is a Canadian progressive metal band formed in Victoria, British Columbia in 2017. The group consists of husband and wife duo Courtney LaPlante and Michael Stringer, who were former members of the metal band 'Iwrestledabearonce'. The name 'Spiritbox' is inspired by a device used by paranormal investigators to communicate with spirits.
Their music is a unique blend of heavy metal, progressive rock, and pop, characterized by LaPlante's diverse vocal range, which oscillates between hauntingly melodic and fiercely powerful. The band gained a significant following with their single "Holy Roller" in 2020, which showcases their ability to blend heavy and melodic elements seamlessly.
Spiritbox released their debut self-titled EP in October 2017. This was followed by numerous singles over the years, which were compiled into a collection titled "Singles Collection" in 2019. Their debut full-length album, 'Eternal Blue', was released in September 2021.
Despite being relatively new to the scene, Spiritbox has made a significant impact on the metal genre. Their innovative approach to music and raw emotional intensity have earned them a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim. Their debut album 'Eternal Blue' reached number 13 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 on the Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart.
