Skindred
Skindred is a Welsh rock band formed in Newport, Wales, in 1998. The group is renowned for its unique blend of heavy metal, punk rock, reggae, and electronic music, a genre fusion they refer to as "nu reggae".
The band was formed by vocalist Benji Webbe and bassist Daniel Pugsley, following the disbandment of Webbe's previous band, Dub War. The original lineup also included guitarist Mikey Demus and drummer Arya Goggin.
Skindred's debut album, "Babylon," was released in 2002, earning them widespread acclaim and a dedicated fan base. The album's standout track, "Nobody," was even featured in several video games and films.
The band has since released seven more albums, including "Roots Rock Riot" (2007), "Shark Bites and Dog Fights" (2009), "Union Black" (2011), "Kill the Power" (2014), "Volume" (2015), "Big Tings" (2018), and "Roots Rock Riot" (2021). Each album has further solidified their reputation for genre-blending innovation and energetic live performances.
Throughout their career, Skindred has toured extensively, sharing stages with notable bands like Korn, Disturbed, and Papa Roach. They have also played at several major music festivals, including Download Festival and Ozzfest.
Despite lineup changes and the challenges of the music industry, Skindred continues to produce music that pushes boundaries, proving their resilience and dedication to their craft.
