The initial style of Powerman 5000 was heavily influenced by punk rock, but they transitioned to industrial metal, nu metal, and industrial rock with their second album, "Mega!! Kung Fu Radio". However, their breakthrough came with the third album "Tonight the Stars Revolt!" in 1999, which included the hit single "When Worlds Collide". The album, blending elements of rock, metal, and electronica, went on to achieve platinum status.
