Next
'Next' is an American R&B musical group, popular during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The group was formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1997, consisting of brothers R.L. Huggar and Terry "T-Low" Brown, and their long-time friend Raphael "Tweet" Brown.
The group's first big break came when they were discovered by Producer Kay Gee of Naughty by Nature, who signed them to his Divine Mill record label. Next released their debut album "Rated Next" in 1997, which went double platinum, propelled by the success of their hit single "Too Close". The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was named the most-played song of 1998 in the United States.
Next's second album, "Welcome II Nextasy", was released in 2000, and produced another hit, "Wifey", which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their third album, "The Next Episode", was not as successful, leading to a hiatus in 2002.
Next reunited in 2006 and released a new album, "Next, Lies, & Videotape" in 2008. Despite changes in the music industry and shifts in R&B trends, Next continues to perform and make music, maintaining a loyal fan base. Their signature blend of soulful harmonies and catchy hooks remains a hallmark of late 90s R&B music.
