Mya Marie Harrison, known professionally as Mya, is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress. Born on October 10, 1979, in Washington, D.C., Mya developed a passion for music at a young age, inspired by her musician father. She joined a dance troupe at age two and began ballet lessons at the age of four.
In 1998, Mya burst onto the music scene with her self-titled debut album, which went platinum and spawned the hit single "It's All About Me." Her sophomore album, "Fear of Flying," released in 2000, achieved gold status and included the smash hit "Case of the Ex."
Mya's music career skyrocketed in 2001 when she collaborated with Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, and Pink on a cover of Labelle's "Lady Marmalade" for the "Moulin Rouge!" soundtrack. The song topped charts worldwide and won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
