Matchbox Twenty
Matchbox Twenty is an American rock band, formed in Orlando, Florida, in 1995. The group consists of Rob Thomas (lead vocals, keyboards), Brian Yale (bass guitar), Paul Doucette (drums, rhythm guitar, backing vocals), and Kyle Cook (lead guitar, backing vocals).
The band first gained fame with their debut album, "Yourself or Someone Like You" (1996), which became a multi-platinum success due to hit singles like "Push" and "3 A.M.". This album successfully established Matchbox Twenty's presence in the late 90s post-grunge era of alternative rock.
Their follow-up album, "Mad Season" (2000), also achieved widespread success, with its lead single, "Bent", becoming the band's first number one hit. The band continued to enjoy success with their third album, "More Than You Think You Are" (2002), which included hits like "Unwell" and "Disease".
After a brief hiatus, during which Rob Thomas embarked on a successful solo career, the band regrouped and released their fourth studio album, "North" (2012), which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.
Known for their combination of rock, pop, and alternative sounds, and Thomas' emotive, raspy vocals, Matchbox Twenty has sold over 40 million records worldwide. They have also been nominated for numerous awards, highlighting their significant impact on the music industry.
