Marky Ramone is a legendary drummer, best known as a member of the world-famous punk rock band The Ramones. Born Marc Steven Bell in Brooklyn, New York, Marky grew up with a passion for music. He started playing drums at the age of 11 and joined his first band, Dust, in 1971.
His stint with The Ramones began in 1978 when the group's original drummer, Tommy Ramone, decided to focus on producing for the band. Marky played with The Ramones until their final show in 1996. He was the sole drummer to have recorded on every single Ramones studio album released in the 1980s.
Aside from his work with The Ramones, Marky has made his mark on the music scene in several other ways. He played with famous artists such as Dee Dee Ramone, Jason Crane, and Joey Ramone in their solo projects. He also published a memoir in 2015, titled "Punk Rock Blitzkrieg: My Life as a Ramone," which became a New York Times Best Seller.
Marky's style and contribution to the punk world have been influential. He co-wrote several classic Ramones tunes, including "Psycho Therapy," "Somebody Put Something in My Drink," and "Time Has Come Today" among others.
