Lumidee Cedeño, professionally known as Lumidee, is an American singer, songwriter, and rapper, born on October 13, 1984, in East Harlem, New York. She first gained fame in 2003 with her debut single "Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh)" which peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, catapulting her into the limelight.
Coming from a large family of 8 siblings, Lumidee's journey into music began at the age of 12, writing poetry and songs about her life experiences. Her unique blend of reggae, R&B, and hip-hop caught the attention of DJ Tedsmooth, leading to her signing with his independent label, Straight Face.
Her debut album, "Almost Famous" released in 2003, contained her hit single and was well-received. However, legal issues with her label led to a hiatus in her career.
