In 1987, in Zion, Illinois, a rock duo named Local H was formed, featuring vocalist/guitarist/bassist Scott Lucas and drummer Joe Daniels. Starting as a four-piece with Matt Garcia on bass and John Sparkman on guitar, the group soon transitioned to a duo. With a hard-rock sensibility and Scott playing both guitar and bass—thanks to clever use of bass pickups—the band emerged as a distinctive act in the local scene.
In 1995, Local H released their debut, "Ham Fisted," featuring tracks like "Pop Top" and "Oil and Water." The album's highlight, "Cynic," showcased the fusion of melodic and hard-rock styles. Then came 1996's "As Good As Dead," which garnered wider success with the hit singles "Bound for the Floor" and "Eddie Vedder." Local H opened for Stone Temple Pilots and performed at Rosemont Horizon, a hallmark for Scott Lucas.
Over the years, Local H became synonymous with their energetic live performances and strategic use of other musicians to create a larger sound. From their iconic Halloween shows where they've performed as other bands to their ambitious concept albums, like the 2013 release with two discs, Local H has kept audiences engaged with their creative and inclusive approach to rock music.
