Lacuna Coil
Genres
Lacuna Coil is an Italian gothic metal band formed in Milan in 1994. Initially named Sleep of Right and Ethereal, the band was inspired by the combination of gothic imagery and music, and the members are known for being among the first to bring this genre to the mainstream. Founding members include vocalist Andrea Ferro, bassist/composer Marco Coti Zelati, and vocalist Cristina Scabbia, who joined in 1996.
Their breakthrough came with the album "Comalies" in 2002, which featured a groundbreaking dual-vocalist approach, with Scabbia's melodic harmonies perfectly blending with Ferro's harsher delivery. This album, along with extensive touring, including the prestigious Ozzfest, led to them gaining a strong international following.
Over their career, Lacuna Coil has released nine studio albums, each one refining and evolving their unique sound. Some of their most popular songs include "Heaven's A Lie," "Our Truth," and "Trip The Darkness."
Despite lineup changes and the challenges of the music industry, Lacuna Coil has maintained a strong presence in the metal scene. They are recognized for their compelling live performances, darkly poetic lyrics, and the powerful chemistry between the two vocalists. Their music continues to inspire a devoted fan base and influence bands within the genre.
