Jinjer is a Ukrainian heavy metal band that originated in Donetsk, Ukraine in 2009. The band's unique sound combines elements of progressive metal, death metal, and nu-metal. The group initially gained recognition after the release of their debut album, "Inhale, Don't Breathe," in 2012, which earned them the Best Ukrainian Metal Act award.
Jinjer's lineup consists of Tatiana Shmailyuk on vocals, Roman Ibramkhalilov on guitars, Eugene Abdukhanov on bass, and Vladislav Ulasevish on drums. Shmailyuk's versatile vocal range, shifting from growling to clean singing, has been a defining feature of the band's sound.
The band gained international prominence with their 2016 album "King of Everything" and the single "Pisces" that went viral on YouTube. Their EP "Micro" (2019) and album "Macro" (2019) further solidified their standing in the global metal scene. Despite challenges, including being displaced due to the conflict in Eastern Ukraine, Jinjer has continued to create music and tour worldwide, earning a dedicated global fanbase. Their lyrics often explore themes of social and political issues, personal struggles, and philosophy.
Jinjer is known for their explosive live performances and has played at many notable music festivals, including Wacken Open Air and Resurrection Fest. They were nominated for a Grammy in the Best Metal Performance category in 2021.
