Ja Rule, born Jeffrey Bruce Atkins on February 29, 1976, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor from Queens, New York. He began his music career in 1994 with the hip hop group Cash Money Click. However, he gained mainstream fame after signing with Def Jam Recordings in 1998 and released his debut studio album "Venni Vetti Vecci" in 1999.
Ja Rule's distinctive gruff voice and signature style of blending rap and R&B helped him score several hit tracks in the early 2000s, including "Between Me and You", "I'm Real", and "Always on Time". His second and third albums, "Rule 3:36" (2000) and "Pain Is Love" (2001), both reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
Despite his music success, Ja Rule's career was marred by legal issues and feuds with other artists, most notably 50 Cent. He served two years in prison from 2011 to 2013 for illegal gun possession and tax evasion.
As an actor, Ja Rule has appeared in numerous films, including "The Fast and the Furious" (2001) and "Scary Movie 3" (2003). In recent years, he's also been involved in various business ventures, including the controversial Fyre Festival in 2017.
Despite the ups and downs, Ja Rule remains an influential figure in the hip-hop world, known for his unique fusion of rap and pop sounds.
