Harms Way
Harm's Way is an American hardcore punk band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 2006. Initially conceived as a side project, the band's music evolved from a simple hardcore punk and powerviolence blend to a more complex sound involving metal and industrial influences.
The band was formed by Chris Mills, Bo Lueders, James Pligge, and John Caution, who were all members of other hardcore bands. They sought to create music that was heavier and more experimental than their other projects. Mills, the drummer, was initially the primary songwriter, but the band's sound has evolved to include contributions from all members.
Harm's Way has released five studio albums: "Reality Approaches" (2009), "Isolation" (2011), "Blinded" (2013), "Rust" (2015), and "Posthuman" (2018). Their music is characterized by heavy riffs, dark tones, and Pligge's distinctively brutal vocals.
Despite their aggressive sound, Harm's Way is known for their ethical stance. They are outspoken advocates for veganism and straight edge, a subculture of hardcore punk that refrains from using alcohol, tobacco, and other recreational drugs. Their lyrics often deal with issues such as self-loathing, modern society, and the human condition.
Overall, Harm's Way has made significant strides in the hardcore punk scene, gaining a reputation for their intense live performances and their unique blend of hardcore, metal, and industrial music. They continue to push boundaries, always striving to create something new and unique within their genre.
