Duster is an American space rock band that gained prominence in the late 1990s. The band was formed in San Jose, California in 1996 by multi-instrumentalists Clay Parton and Canaan Dove Amber. Later, they were joined by drummer Jason Albertini.
Their unique sound, characterized by slow tempos, ethereal atmospheres, and a lo-fi aesthetic, was influential in the slowcore and post-rock scenes. Duster released two studio albums, "Stratosphere" in 1998 and "Contemporary Movement" in 2000, both of which received critical acclaim for their experimental approach to rock music.
Despite their early success, Duster disbanded in 2001, with members going on to pursue other projects. Their music, however, continued to gain a cult following in the years that followed, leading to a resurgence in popularity.
In 2018, Duster announced they were reuniting and released a self-titled album in December 2019. The band's legacy continues to grow as they continue to influence a new generation of musicians with their distinct sound and approach to music-making.
