Cold
Cold is an American alternative rock band that was formed in 1986 in Jacksonville, Florida. The band was originally called Grundig before they adopted the name Cold in 1996. The founding members were Scooter Ward (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Sam McCandless (drums), Jeremy Marshall (bass guitar), and Matt Loughran (guitar).
Cold's music style is often classified as post-grunge and alternative metal. They are known for their emotional lyrics, distinctive melancholic sound, and the unique, raspy voice of the lead vocalist Scooter Ward.
Their debut self-titled album was released in 1998 under the production of Ross Robinson, a well-known producer in the nu-metal genre. However, it was their second album, "13 Ways to Bleed on Stage" (2000), that brought them mainstream success. The album featured hit singles like "Just Got Wicked" and "No One," which charted on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.
Cold continued to release albums including "Year of the Spider" (2003), "A Different Kind of Pain" (2005), and "Superfiction" (2011). After a brief hiatus, the band returned in 2019 with their sixth studio album, "The Things We Can't Stop."
Despite several line-up changes, Cold has maintained its popularity and influence in the rock music scene, with a loyal fan base known as the "Cold Army." Their music continues to touch on themes of love, loss, and personal struggle, resonating with many listeners around the world.
